San Marcos is an inland North County city along Highway 78, home to Cal State San Marcos and the main campus of Palomar College.
San Elijo Hills and Double Peak Park are in the south of the city, and Lake San Marcos is a lakeside community on its southwest edge. Restaurant Row along San Marcos Boulevard is the best known stretch for eating out.
